They even took over the building of the Sydney Opera House, at one stage! This is a story about the union movement, and what it takes to stand up to powerful figures, whose deepest desire is to squash you underfoot. Told with humour and wistfulness, it also has it’s share of tragedy. Given the current climate, it is also a call to arms.

 

The story of how a fifteen year old happened to find herself on top of a building one winter’s night, despite a terror of heights. It is a story of hope for anybody who has gone through trauma. A Different Light is heartfelt, hopeful and sometimes humorous. It is my story.

I am a survivor of violence. A poet, artist and lover of life. Perhaps you recognise your story in one of the blog entries? I want this blog to purvey a sense of truth, dignity and love. I survived being thrown from a building as a teenager, and have gone on to have a miracle IVF daughter. I have my moments of despair, but they are fleeting. There is incredulity at how I came to be here, a woman in her thirties. I have written a book about my journey, Lived To Tell. It was mostly written when I was a teenager, and wrapped up in my twenties. Thank you for taking the journey with me.

  12. Bless your heart for never losing faith and for having the courage to fight for the life that you truly deserve. I can’t imagine how it must have been for you going through such traumatic experiences and I applaud you for being so strong and brave throughout your ordeal. You’re a great example of why we should never lose hope even at the most trying times in our lives. Thank you for sharing your story and good luck on your book! 🙂
